Morgan, Seth and I spent our last three days together in Rome. We were determined to do everything, and trust me we tried!
We got to Rome on May 29th, AKA my 21st birthday! We took a train and got in around 4:00 p.m. Our Airbnb was beautiful and had a lemon tree right outside of the window. After showering and getting ready we walked to my birthday dinner.
We ended up at Osteria Pasquino, which we found through TikTok. The restaurant was packed, but we sat on the patio immediately. Of course, Morgan and I started with hugo spritz and pictures! I got the cacio e pepe (still my favorite meal in Italy), Morgan got lobster pasta and Seth got vodka pasta. I feel very lucky that I had the perfect 21st birthday.
The next day we got up and got right to sightseeing. While walking toward the Colosseum, we saw the Ancient Roman Bathhouses. We randomly decided to go and it was worth it. The ruins were beautiful and the crowd was small and spread out.
We moved on to the Colosseum and Forum. When we got our tickets we found out that our tickets were for later in the day so we got lunch and drinks beforehand. The Colosseum and Forum were fascinating, but crowded. The Bathhouses were my favorite sight that day. We got dinner and went to bed almost immediately because we were exhausted.
On our final day together, we went to Vatican City. We went through St. Peter’s Basilica and when we came out we realized the Pope was talking. The crowd was huge and the sun was beating down, but hearing the Pope talk in person is a once in a lifetime experience.
That night, we had dinner for a very long time. I was not ready to be apart from either of them. Even after dinner, we wandered through Rome. Morgan and I got purses and “I heart Roma” tee shirts. We took pictures at the Trevi Fountain and then Seth and I drank out of the Lovers Fountain. Going to bed that night was hard, especially because Seth was leaving for the airport at 5:00 a.m.
Though this trip ended in tears, they were both happy and sad. I was going to miss Seth and Morgan so much, but I was also so grateful for our trip. We squeezed as much as we could into our short time there and it ended up being unforgettable.
